Boy some companys really stink!!

My niece just sent this to me... I just cant believe what some company's are in the habit of doing, sounds like a big scam to me. She even read some of the fine print they sent after the fact that said she couldn't do anything about it basically. I told her to turn them in to the BBB and report them. She said I cant. SO I am posting here. Anyone got any ideas???

Subject: NEVER USING TRAVELATION AGAIN!

I was trying to find cheap flights from Portland Oregon to Orlando Florida for June 13th through the 24th  for my father in laws wedding,  so i saw 2 round trip tickets for $952.60  from Spirit airlines through Travelation. I called my husband to see if he wanted me to get them, he said yes, so I ordered them.  About an hour later I received the confirmation email  saying  it was for the 14th and that one of the dates was different than what I requested in the search, I called my husband to let him know what happened,  so he called his dad to see if this would work, he then called me back saying that is the day his dad is getting married,  so I called the Travelation costumer service asking them to change the date back to the 13th.  He put me on hold for about 5 minutes and then informed me that it would be an additional $210.12 I  told him I didn't have that much in my account and that I would have to cancel it,  he then told me to cancel the flights it would be $75 per ticket  plus taxes,  I told the guy I didn't have a choice and that I didn't have over $1200 in my account,  he told me I could use another card, because changing the date is a better deal, I told him I didn't have another card  and I didn't have enough money for that right then.  I asked if we could pay the rest next week when husband got paid, but he said we couldn't wait that long, and it usually takes 2 to 3 hours to go through.  I told him to cancel it, he sent me an email saying that I wished to cancel it and put me on hold for about 20 minutes.  As soon as I got off the phone I checked my account and the charge of $215 was pending!

  1. Sorry April I don't have any ideas as I don't know American law but in the UK some companies try this and are not popular. Usually a consumer programme soon sorts them out and lets everyone know what a scam the company has pulled.
Were the Terms and Conditions available on the website? If they weren't and your niece was only alerted to them afterwards then that gives her a case.
It is a dreadful thing to do.
Sometimes it is an idea to call the airline company themselves and tell them how you were treated. They don't like being associated with companies that pull this stunt. Why couldn't she have the dates she wanted?

    1. Lynn, I figured if they can't do anything we could at least warn some of what they are up to. Her hubby is going to take care of it.
