Having fun at Grandparents

Felix started asking to have his face painted after he got here. So today he got his wish...
Isha this one is for you and Zber. LOL our 2 Batman fans. ha ha ha... He has been so funny this time. It is so nice to have him here with us again. It would be long and Nana is going to be the shortest person again... They are all getting so big!

For those that read my Blog

I would like to ask a favor of those that read this blog. If you could let me know your "opinion" I'd be very grateful. I am a crafter for therapy. It keeps me half way sane... ;-) Do you think crafting should be a way to make money first? Or is it just a happy byproduct of others liking your work?

I've tried to make a doll business back in 98 and that was a real flop.  I sold maybe 6 dolls in a year.  And I started to hate making dolls. I gave most of them away in the end. Four were special ordered by a lady, her Grandmother made pillow cases, her mother embroidered them and she crocheted the edges. (3 generations working on them) She had me make them into old fashioned dolls for her Great Granddaughters. Sixth generation down from the woman who originally made the cases. I thought it was so interesting and made for great keepsakes.

Anyway, back to your opinions... I am really into the paper dolls, corsets and cards. I have seen that others make them to sell. I was quite surprised at the cost too. But thought it might be nice to be able to sell some to keep me supplied in papers and tools so I can keep crafting. Plus I don't know what to do with all the things I finish.

What is your honest opinion, is it something you think I could shoot for or should I keep it therapy only? I want to know what you think of the quality of my work.
Please leave your comments for me below, Any and All are greatly appreciated.
Have a great weekend.

Made Felix's Day

We made use of leftovers... ;-)  Best way I know to use up leftover mashed potatoes is to make Chocolate Coconut Balls, Look yum huh...
The little ones are Ritz Bits peanut butter crackers dipped in chocolate.  Want the recipe, I'll gladly share if you want.
Hope you are all having a good time.  We are trying. ha ha ha.

Last one for a bit

This will be the last one for a while as with grand kids and all I'm not going to have me time. lol
Here is the one I finished last night.  I LOVE it! A Corset with Garters.
Those little bows were a bugger to do. Ha ha...But very worth it.
Don't you just love it?  I sure do. So relaxing to make too. Have a great long weekend.
Off to make erasers with Felix today. Thank you Auntie Carla for the kit. ;-)

Who Knew??

These little paper dresses are addictive! I finished this one last night. Paper Machi corset then covered with bits of colored tissue paper. Sequins and  2 paper rolled roses. Laced up the back. My Niece said if I wanted to sew one she would love to wear it. ;-) It would look good on her too!!!!

I am starting another one too. My youngest niece and granddaughter are going to love making these.
I'm also going to make some hangers, so more coming soon. I hope.. Will be gone a few days as we get to have our Little Man come visit. Yeah /\/\/\/\/\ Happy Dance /\/\/\/\/\ Hope I stay on an up for the next week or so. Take one day at a time.
Have a good day, week... Life.  Make it the best you can ;-)

Fighting the blues with Paper

I have been trying to make myself do things to work through some of this. And this is what I came up with after watching some YouTube videos and going to a few blogs. I love Kellie's corsets. WOW!
Then I found Scrappin Happy by - Jeanette and watched her dress making. More WOW! Here is the info for their YouTube channels.

Art Dress Tutorial - Part 1 - Paper Mache Bodice
by Scrappin Happyxo

Art Dress tutorial with Paper Mache Bodice Tutorial
by Angela Holt

Boho Basil Paper Corset
by Kellie Reynolds

And here is what I came up with. It isn't quite what I was going for, but it makes me smile! I love it! The roses and pink flowers on the dress are paper too. The tulle, bow and lace are the only things I used other than paper. Oh and little bling Rhinestones... they are nail are. lol Love it more on paper than nails. There is 3 layers to the back of the dress and then the bustle and bow. I can't decide if I need to make a way to hang this or make a stand for it. Kellie also has tutorial for hangers... I am going to make a tutu next.

Need to learn to take better pictures. I have 3 daughters now and they all are good to great photographers. I need to take some lessons.
Have a good weekend!

Feeling a bit Blue

I started feeling blue on Thursday afternoon. Couldn't even go shopping by myself. Took Tootsie in to have her stitches out. She is doing great! And had to come right home.

That night I was feeling real bad about 11:45 or 12 I thought I was having a anxiety or heart attack. Tried to wake up hubby, he jumped said you okay? and started snoring again. (roll eyes) I sat downstairs in the recliner as I couldn't get comfortable and it passed about 1:30 or so. Called Dr after 9 am and they wouldn't see me, said call 911! Mom took me over to the firehouse as it is right behind us.They did an EKG and said Looks good follow up with your Dr. So I called the Dr back and made an appointment for 4:30 in the afternoon. A few minutes later my Dr's nurse called and said he wants to see you at 11 can you be here. Yes... He was very upset with me for going to the firehouse. Said "If I say call 911 Call 911, not go to the firehouse."  Found out if I go there it is good Samaritan, if they are called out they have to call the Dr. HA! Learned something there...

Long story short, he upped my anti-depressant and added anti-anxiety. I have done nothing but sleep and cry for the last few days. I can hardly make myself stay up for an hour. Have no real pleasure in my crafting right now either. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.

All I can do is tell my mom and hubby I'm sorry... And I was told I don't need to be, but I AM!

So if I'm gone for a while it's because I just don't feel well.

Anniversary cards and gifts

Well this is what I've been up to besides moving furniture around... Swapping beds and rooms again.
Dragonfly pink card for my sister, Black and pink gift card for her daughter. Their anniversary's are one day apart. And the forms are for our youngest daughter. Her favorite colors.
I got the idea for this card from Here I just love the look of this card

 Simple gift card in envelope
 Closed with a belly band
 Finished! 1 dozzen
 4 white, 6 black and 2 pink
Sorry not a good picture of the ribbon, but I printed her information from her business card onto the ribbons. I even found the font she used so it matches perfectly! Yeah!!
Well soon I hope to stop moving furniture and concentrate more on making cards and gifts instead. lol Chat soon.

Goodbye is hard

Even if it is a chicken... We lost Rudy tonight. Poor boy just had to let him go. I had Rudy isolated from the rest and the hens kept trying to look through the cracks in the slats like hey what are you doing in there.  I picked Rudy up today, his feet and wattle were cold and blueish red. He cuddled his head into my neck and was struggling to breathe. Like do something for me. So I said okay little guy, I love you enough to not let you suffer anymore. So I loved him and said goodbye. A friend took care of him for me and he is buried out back where the other chickens have been buried.
On a good note, Mircale crowed for the first time today. Funny he was supposed to be a she. So we still have a rooster on the place. Well better get to bed. Lots to do tomorrow. Hope it is a better day than today.

Surprise!!!!

Look what came through the post today...
I won this through All Things Paper blog. Oh it is such an interesting book, I had a quick thumb through then had to fix hubby's dinner. So will be reading it in a bit. Has some great looking projects in it too. Now maybe I can learn to use all this fantastic tape I've been collecting. lol

Poor little Rudy..

My poor Rooster Rudy, is having a very hard time breathing tonight. He is sneezing and wheezing, so bad I am afraid what I might get up to tomorrow. I sure hope he can be helped. I emailed a chicken expert and am hoping to get some help for him. He is a Bantam X Astrolorp
Isn't he a handsome fellow! I hope he is still with us tomorrow. He is a great rooster and daddy. If you raise chickens and have any info please feel free to leave me a message.
Thanks for your time and help.

A Gift for Youngest Daughter

Our newest daughter (youngest son's wife) is a very crafty girl, she designs and makes jewelry.  She goes to a lot of craft fairs to sell her wares. And she has even been making her own stands. I wanted to help her a little bit and found a "Great" template Here Pretty cool huh!

I made it out of heavy glossy card or poster board. (Not sure what it is I got a big bundle of it at Goodwill for a couple of dollars.) Cut the template out covered with felt, then cut the template out again only 1/4 inch smaller all around and glued to the back to cover the felt. I punched holes for the ribbon and attached that before putting the backing on. Here is a picture of the front. Don't have any of the back yet. The ribbon is tied in the back to make it bend and stand. I used a hot pink and white Diva ribbon.
Not the best photographer but you get the idea. Hope she likes them and can use them. The great thing is I can untie them and they will lay almost flat for shipping them to her. Well better get.
Have a wonderful weekend.

Card 2 for Meljen's Hot Chocolate Challenge

This is card 2 for Meljen's challenge. I had some fun time today playing both in the craft room and kitchen. And I love my aprons so this digi is close to my heart in things I like. Brown & white chevron pattern paper edges inked in chocolate, white card die cut with coordinating die and colored with ink to match the ribbon and chevron paper. Pink die cut Thank you to finish the card. Placed an a blank pink card.
The fun in the kitchen today was a cheese cake for mom. She has been so patiently waiting for me to get myself motivated. Glad I did it, it's yummy. ;-)
Love you!

MMmmm Hot Chocolate...

He he he... The new challenge at Meljen's this week is "Hot Chocolate"
(Use brown on your project)  Well I thought of a few ideas and came up with this

Isn't he a cutie. He is from Meljens shop you can find him here I think I got him when he was offered as a freebie. Have to check her out she has a different one each week. Printed on craft and die cut. Layered on a couple of pieces of scrap paper (given to me by my Sis- Thank you Carla!!) Matching thank you cut from same scraps. All edges are inked with chocolate brown ink. And I didn't wait until the last day to try and make a card. LOL
Have a great rest of the week. Oh TGIF is almost here... Have a good weekend too. Off to see if I can make some more cards. I know I'm off my rocker.. ;-)

Time for another challenge at Meljen's

A Lovely Autumn Brights challenge.
This was last Fridays freebie I used. Saw a card made like this, but can't remember where on line I saw it. But it is a pocket card. I used the scarecrow from Meljen's  He is a cutie. The paper is just odds and ends that I had. The leaves are just white paper that I sponged different colors on then punched the leaves out. Love the hay and bailing twine. Around here they use a florescent orange twine. First up is a close up of the scare crow. He is 3D and sitting on the hay.

Punched a star to pull the string through to match
Hope you like him, I do. lol
Have a great week!

About back to normal

Hey all you Lovelies... Sorry been down.

Last Thursday I was the lucky receiver of a fever blister on my bottom lip, (a bit of sarcasm)  Friday turned into a whole lot of pain on the right side of my face. Dr said I have shingles. He put me on anti-viral medication and antibiotic ointment for my eye. I felt like I had been beaten and left. Talk about hurt... so have spent the better part of the last week in bed. Tuesday saw the eye specialist and she said my eye is fine, but she wants to recheck it just to make sure in 4-6 weeks.

Today I finely feel half way normal. But the amazing thing is I only have 1 lesion from the shingles. The Dr was hoping I wouldn't get any catching it so fast and getting on the medication. But after seeing what it usually does to people I won't complain.

I have been itching to make some cards so hopefully I will be up to that soon. Hope all are well with you and yours. Looking forward to better times ahead.

A gift for someone I love

I saw this idea on Wings of Whimsy  Isn't it just the neatest way to re-purpose a book? I thought so.
Here is my take on it. I used glue and washi tape instead of sewing it.

I made a few cards and filled them into the book as a card keeper for a very dear friend. ;-)
She liked it too. (I'm so glad!) My mom said if she didn't she would keep it. LOL So I guess I need to make a few more of these. I love how the color of the papers went so well the original book binding.

Well Talk to you soon. Working on a little project for my youngest Daughter.
I like that with raising the 3 boys I missed having a daughter. Well I now have 3 wonderful Daughters. Not the same as raising them, but I'm happy to have them.

Latest goings on...

Well it has been a busy week so far. P had major surgery on his back last Friday, they released him from hospital on Saturday and I went home with them. His wife was running a fever and bad cough. So stayed confined to her room so not to share.

Sunday I pulled the drain as the discharge Nurse had said to from P's back, DD was at Dr's with her mom as she developed Strep throat. Felix has a bad cough and not sure about much more.

Monday P slept most of the day then started running a fever and pain was going up so headed back to Eugene for the ER. Spent from about 9 PM to 2:15 AM in the emergency room. Had hubby meet us there and he brought us home. P is here at our place with us until he gets lots better. If he starts running a fever again he goes right back to the ER. From our house it is a 15 minute drive, from his it is over an hour.

Just found out some friends were in a bad car accident. Not sure about details just know it is bad. Our Prayers are with them and their families.

Well we are getting lots of liquid sunshine, as we call rain here in Oregon. lol  Got to have the rain to be green, too much though and it will be muddy. Ha! And my boys loved the mud when they were little.

Hope the rest of your week is well and check out my card on the previous post, Bee Happy! ;-)

Ok just a short update then off to bed

Let see, went and saw Middle son and family 4 weekends ago Then to the Coast with hubby's little sister and hubby the next weekend. Got home Sunday night, youngest son came same night. I left with him on Wednesday to go see middle son and family for a night, then off to Burns to see friends and family over there for the rest of the week and weekend. Hubby picked Felix up Friday and brought him to have fun. Came home last Sunday, kept Felix with us as his parents came up Monday as P had another Dr appointment with neurosurgeon on Tuesday. He called after appointment and said he was going to have to have back surgery to relieve the pain, not sure how much use of his leg he will regain. Called back about an hour or so later and said "We'll be back a week from Friday for the surgery." Boy that was fast! So in less than a week he will hopefully & finely be out of pain and this will be 3rd surgery to boot. At least a 3 month recovery, without knowing if he will regain the strength in his leg, but he said he can drag his leg if he didn't have to deal with the pain.

I know I am a lousy writer and don't know how to put things into words very well, but hey at least I have spell check. HA ha ha....

Well that is my update for the last month. Haven't had a lot of crafting time, but lots of loves from all my boys both big and small. So I can deal with crafting after the hugs.

Talk to you later, have a safe and fun weekend!

Challenge #227 - Laugh Out Loud

Challenge at Meljen's this week is LOL and she is giving a cute digi to use if you need.
Here is what I came up with.
The digi I used you can get here
And the clover... is a very nice tutorial over at Norma's
She has some wonderful crafting she shares, go check her out.
Although I don't have the dies she used I do have a couple of daisy punches I used instead. and for the clover leaves I used an egg punch and cut them to a point. It isn't as nice as her's by a long way, but hey it worked. LOL The little bee is Fimo fingernail art and covered Meljen's digi bee except for the wing tips. I like it... And for some reason I just get tickled when I read the saying the other day. and it stuck with me and needed to be made into a card.
I have also been working on some bookmarks so stay tuned... Up next.

First have to go to town mom and I want a couple of chicks before they are gone. Araucana last for the season, buy 2 get 3 free. So maybe we can keep a couple.  also fencing the coop so the darn cat will stay out. We hope!

Why?????

Why do some people think it is fine if they spam blogs? I have been getting comments for way past post and all it is is spam for them to add links to their sites or who knows what as I wont click on them and I won't post them to my blog. So if one does get by and I don't catch it PLEASE don't click on any links. I have comment moderation on just so I can keep my blog clean and spam free. Hope it works. To all who post genuine comments, Thank you for stopping by and leaving some luv. I try to read everything and look at your blogs too if you have one.
Have a Gr8 Day!!!

Bug- aka Little Lorna was making mac n cheese and got scalded from the knees down. Right leg is worse than left. She spent first night in hospital to manage pain.  She has 1st and 2nd degree burns and blisters. What a brave little girl though. She did real well with the Dr.'s, she said can I help so it wont hurt so much and they let her.
Mom and I have eye appointments and I will try to post something crafty soon. I have done a little bit here and there. We are in the middle of building the new balcony off mom's upstairs bedroom. And school just started again for Felix. So Busy busy....

Facebook???

I have done something I didn't think I would. I joined facebook for a week. LOL I wanted to join a couple of group I follow their blogs and you can get free digis by liking them on FB. So I thought why not. My computer has been running like poo and so was my phone. So although I would love to have the digis I deleted my account and am not longer on FB! Took me 3 hrs to clean everything up and now we are back running.
Some of the ones I liked were:
Sherri Baldy, My Besties. I think they are so cute! I had signed up and didn't realize you have to be on FB to get the freebie.
Imagine That! Digis by Kris, Scrapper's Delights. And a couple of others. I really like their work and would love to have the freebies and buy some when I can, but I will not join FB to get them. Not worth the hassle.

Here are the cards I have recently made.
First one was for Bug, she has been helping me with the chickens.
These little ones are fuzzy too.
This one if for a dear friends daughter, in her favorite colors.
This one and the next were going to be for Scrappers Delight challenge. But I deleted my FB account. LOL 3D
This one isn't totally 3D I used washi tape for the wall paper. Cuttlebug for the brick paper and white washed it with gesso, used a wonderful paste by Sheel for the window frame. for the texture.
Well not much else, but it is after 12:30 pm so guess I should try to get some sleep.
Night! XOXO Nana

Some days..........

Some days really take their toll... and what really stinks is when you don't even know why it is so bad. Today is one of those days... All I can do is cry and I have no idea why. Sometimes I think if I at least knew why I felt so crappy I could work it out faster. Well in my mind it sounds good.

Let see what has been going on??? Do you really care? LOL No, but I am going to type it anyway.

Fighting the neighbors cat to keep it away from the Chickens. Gave the mean hens and extra rooster away. Having fun Bonnie? ha ha ha!!!!

Working on hen house and got hit in the face with a hammer head when it came flying off the handle. In my 50's and got my first black eye and I gave it to myself (rolling eyes) Dr had me go through a cat scan to make sure I didn't break anything or have brain bleed. Nope just a good old fashioned concussion. (Just) And a headache that lasted almost as long as the shinner.

Went to Portland to see Carla and went to see a blues singer- Robert Cray.
It was put on by THPRD: Groovin In The Grass
Sat on a hill of the park away from everyone. Nice breeze blew so no bad smells to make me sick. (Getting there was another thing though) Lovely music you can see a clip here. It was nice to see hubby so relaxed and enjoying the music. Wish J could have been there too. He is fun to be with while people watching.

DD got new glasses and they broke, so had to come up and get them fixed, what a hassle! Got home and they broke again. So they will be coming back this week as P has a Dr appointment too. This time it isn't going to cost her to get them fixed. You'd think glasses would last longer than a week... If they are done right... Just sayin..

Well can't much think of more, well I can but why rehash the whole past. Doesn't change the past or help the future. So move on.

On a very Good note: Welcome back MyMoT! I love you and your wife so much!!! Missing you both too.

Well writing has stopped the tears for now. Maybe I can make a card of two.. See you all later. I know myself it won't' be sooner. LOL

"Thought for the Day"

"Thought for the Day"

A T T I T U D E

Attitude is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company, a church , a home.
The remarkable thing is, we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change the fact that people act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable.
The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude.

~ Strengthening Your Grip (Word/Insight for Living)

This was sent to mom by a friend that she dearly loves. I love it and am going to try and adjust myself instead of wishing others would change. Isn't it a great thought for the day....

Disgusted but happy

I have been so busy with mom, cleaning out everyones "STUFF"!  Haven't crafted in more than a month... ~~~~~withdrawals~~~~~ But we are reaching bottom. Yeah!
Grandmas stuff, Papa & GG's stuff, people that have stayed some that for some reason never stayed but we have their stuff too. (rolling eyes) when my Mom use to jokingly say "If you are missing something it is probably at my house" (I thought she was joking) NOT!
Years of stuff that mom hasn't seen as my Ex BIL packed a lot of it up and stacked it 2 of the 5 rooms upstairs were completely packed top to bottom, front to back. We now have 2 bedrooms and a craft room with a single bed. We have 2 more rooms upstairs to finish.

Now for the disgusting part... our neighbors 3 doors down have cats. Lots of cats... I want to see the cats gone! 1 in particular as she keeps catching our chicks. Mom had that cat run right past her with a chick. I have seen it hunting them and run her off, but she keeps coming back. She got one 4 days ago I was furious! The Happy part is she showed up today. She is badly hurt, but doing ok for now. I will keep her inside for a few days as she has been without food or water and she is taking some in, but can't walk or isn't very steady.
She is missing a lot of feathers and has some pretty bad gashes. Right now she is sleeping on my chest wrapped in a piece of tee shirt. Making sweet little noises. Here are a couple of pictures of her. She is quite comfortable sleeping in the sling.
 Pretty beat up baby.
She has a bad smell to her so I'm not sure she will make it but hopefully we will be able to tell more tomorrow. In the meantime, anyone know how to keep cats away without hurting them? I have even called the sheriff's office and there is no laws against cats. But I can defend our chicks, but he could sue me if I hurt his cat. The only thing I can do is sue him for the chicks, but there would be no guarantees he would pay. So...I am open to almost any ideas. Hope everyone has a wonderful evening and a good new week.

Here Chick chick chick...

Well the girls did good.. The Japanese Bantams hatchet 4 and raised 3. Had to chuck 15 from this nest and more from the others.

This is Rudy and the 3 Girls, later in the day one of the JB hens disappeared..
Have no idea but probably the chicken hawk. Darn him!

This is Sweetheart, She only hatched 1 out of 20+ and the little thing got pushed out of the nest and died so I bought her 4 and whitey was sitting and none hatched so I gave her 4 too.
She abandoned them and the nest and took over another one.
Sweetheart took all 8 chicks and last week we lost one to the chicken hawk.
This is Whitey AKA Princess, she just hatched her own 4 and all are doing well.
I will try to get more pictures soon. I gave Prissy and Bobby Sue to a friend. Prissy ran off into the sunset she said and Bobby Sue is setting on dud eggs as there is no rooster where she is now.  Both hens were being mean to the chicks, I just figured it would be easier to get rid of a couple of hens and keep the babies. Have a good week, chat soon.
